Barbour garments and the signature waxed-cotton fabric from which they were made,
had provided some of the first motorcycle clothing in 1911 and launched the acclaimed
International jacket, also for bikers, in 1936. It had created theUrsula four-weather suit
for British submariners in the WW2, and it would laterbe known for its Cowan Commando
style worn during the Falkland Islands conflict!Yet in its 1980 catalogue the jacket was
being co-opted for a new country fashion!
Barbour's graphic identity has changed through the decades but a checked lining
has always been a characteristic of its jackets.
